Bringing a new pet into your household can be stressful for some of the members, while being joyful for others. If you have small children, other cats or dogs in your family, bringing home a new kitten will require some planning and preparation. Small children should never be left with a new pet while unsupervised.

Once you are ready to bring your new kitten home, prepare a room where the kitten will spend her first days. This may be your bedroom, den or a spare room, but should not be a room where other pets are accustomed to spending large amounts of time. This will allow your new pet to become familiar with your house while other animals are adapting to the smell of the newcomer. After several days, you may be ready to physically introduce your pets to one another.

You must diligently supervise these first encounters. If any of your pets display outright violence toward another, separate them immediately for a later try. It can take several weeks to acclimate existing pets to an addition, and some older pets may never be completely friendly to the new one. Most often, however, the pets will find at least a form of truce where they spend most of their time in separate rooms. If this is the direction your pets are headed, you can help them out by providing separate litter boxes, snuggling beds, window sills or other spaces that they prefer.

Pets should be treated like children. In fact, pets should be treated like children who will never grow up. Your dog may grow up to become a well trained animal but it still cannot take care of itself in a satisfactory manner. You must always be prepared to step in and lay down the law as and when required.

Keep the pet healthy and bulk of your pet related problems will automatically vanish. Health is very important. A pet who is not healthy will be a burden on the family. Preparing for Your New Kitten

When preparing for your new kitten, it isn’t enough for your kitten to have a safe place to live or even good food to eat; special care should be given for his/her well being.

Milk, water and wet food are good places to start, but so are veterinary visits soon after you take your new pet home. Spaying or neutering is important to some folks, and the sooner this is done the better.

Keep up on all your vaccines. Have the vet routinely check your kitten’s ears for mites, fleas, and flea dirt. Check your kitten’s stool for worms or parasites, and remember to keep your veterinarian abreast of any perceived sicknesses through sources like Canada 411. It’s always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to the health of your pet.

Long haired cats especially need to be groomed to prevent fur balls lodging in their throat. This means brushing at home, and maybe even a visit to the vet for a little trim. Your kitten will become physically unfit without the use of a few toys scattered throughout the house. But be prepared for your kitten to like something you haven’t purchased that he/she has found and claimed for their favorite toy.

Keeping your kitten in tip-top physical health does not have to include jumping on kitchen tables or scrounging for food on the kitchen counter. Spend time with your kitten playing with a ball of yarn or their favorite sock and you will find that they will receive much of the exercise they need for physical health.

Treat your new member with patience

Purchasing a dog is just not enough; it should be trained which is not an easy job. The owner should be patient and very careful while training its new dog or any other pet and once the training is complete he/she can enjoy with the new member happily.

Let us take an example of training a dog for which and it is to noted that the owner should not only know how to train a dog but even what to train which is done by understanding a dog’s body language, barks and noises. Even small animals are like the new born babies and so they should be treated with much care, love and affection. While training a dog the main thing to be remembered is that the person should be very specific and keen on his gesture and not change them regularly i.e. he/she can use a specific sign for anything considered and the person should stick to that until the dog learns. Again understanding the dog’s language is also very important since the dog communicates through all its body – eyes, ears, tail, leg and everything. So it is very important for a person to understand their language. It is also very important to understand a dog’s noise and barks since they even communicate by them. After that a name has to be given and after the dog is repeatedly called by that name it understands that name and moreover other signs like “come here” or “go away” when used regularly the pet understands those words.

Any pet if trained properly can be like a family member.

Having a pet means something to an apartment dweller. In a lot of ways, you’re expanding your family when you bring an animal into your home, which can be a major step if you’ve never been responsible for any living things but yourself. For example, a pet friendly apartment is going to have a neighborhood where they have space to roam around in. And not just dogs and cats need this. Every animal needs a little outside time every now and again. It’s cruel to cage them up all the time. It’s a little hard to be pet friendly if you don’t ever allow your pets to get outside, even given the special considerations during the winter time.

Training Your Pet Puppy

The arrival of a new puppy in the household is greeted with cheer and happiness. While it is indeed a great moment for the house training and your puppy and taking care of it is indeed a big job which requires lot of focused hard work and tons of patience. There are some basic thing which must be done when a puppy lands in your house. The next important thing is training the puppy once it is home. You should start with small things and the most primary thing that you should start with is developing a good potty habit. The first few days will be problematic but you should be patient and persevering. Never be negative with your pet puppy. Scolding or beating the puppy is bound to create a lot of negativity between you and the puppy. On the other hand if you are positive and appreciate the good work done by the puppy it will go a long way in training it that much better.

The food which you provide to the puppy should be nutritious.

Training Your Pet Dog

If you are under the belief that your pet dog can be trained easily, then more often that not, you are bound to be woken from you stupor and realize the fact it is not that easy at all. Training your pet dog is one hell of a job, especially during the first few days. Having a pet in the house is easier said than done. We can just take a drive, go to a dog kennel and come home with the most desired puppy which is perhaps a few days old. In fact the real challenge just begins the moment the pet arrives home. Remember, we have brought home a puppy which has just been separated from her mother. It could be a traumatic experience for the puppy and added to it, if we as masters do not show the right kind of compassion and care would be actually driving the poor animal down the road to disaster. So taking care of pets is much more important. Hence, prior to buying a pet make it sure that you would be able to spare time and effort to take care of it. It is just like taking care of your own child.

The first thing when it comes to pet care is to ensure that the pet is properly nourished and fed. Remember your food habit and the pets may not be on the same wave length and you cannot expect it to be so. So arranging the right kind of food and nutrition is extremely important. Feeding should also be timely and should be too little or too much. Often we make the mistake of over-feeding the pet which could lead all sorts of problems. The next important point that needs to be kept in mind is to ensure that the pet remains clean and healthy. Regular bathing, trimming of nails, hairs and regular changing of water if you are having an aquarium are some of the basic things that need to be kept in mind.
